Kier Selected to Build New UK Headquarters for Electric-Motor Maker YASA
Construction firm Kier has been awarded the contract to deliver a new 90,000 square foot UK headquarters facility for electric-motor manufacturer YASA. The project will be built at the Bicester Motion technology campus, a 444-acre site located on a former Royal Air Force base in Bicester.
The new headquarters, known as The Range Phase 1, will be developed for client Bicester Motion. The carbon-efficient buildings will target BREEAM Excellent certification and EPC A ratings, and will feature renewable energy capabilities such as solar photovoltaic panels. The design also includes dedicated ecology and biodiversity areas, as well as green-space amenities.

Bicester Motion's chief executive, Daniel Geoghegan, stated that the deal with Kier represents a step forward in "boosting construction jobs and the wider local supply chain." This aligns with Kier's focus on supporting sustainable building practices and the local economy.
Four more buildings
Following this initial phase, four more buildings are planned as part of The Range Phase 2. The combined construction value of both phases is estimated at £60m. While a contractor has not yet been selected for Phase 2, tier one firm Willmott Dixon and SME Life Build Solutions are among the companies on Bicester Motion's tender list, along with Kier.
The announcement of Kier's selection comes shortly after Mercedes-Benz subsidiary YASA revealed that ground had been broken on its new UK headquarters, although the main contractor was not named in that announcement.
